Environmental Health Services
Environmental Health Services promotes care for the environment in the interest of human health. Working in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Environmental Health Officers provide services to individuals, businesses and government.
The branch engages in consultation and provides educational services, conducts inspections, surveillance, audits and enforcement activities in the areas of food safety, drinking water quality, institutional/care facilities, personal services, sewage disposal, special events, recreational facilities, communicable disease control and other public health related matters.
Drinking water
Environmental Health Officers play a role in the safety of drinking water by conducting inspections, permitting, and monitoring trucked drinking water and large public drinking water systems in Yukon.

Food Safety
Environmental Health Officers play a role in the prevention of food borne illnesses and outbreaks by conducting routine and complaint inspections of food premises, education, and enforcement of regulations to ensure food safety.

Environmental Health Officers play a role in preventing public health risks associated with wastewater disposal by reviewing applications, conducting onsite inspections and issuing installation approvals for sewage disposal systems in Yukon.
