Children’s Dental Program

Yukon Children's Dental Program provides services to Yukon children, from newborn to Grade 8 or Grade 12, depending on the child's place of residence. Yukon Dental Health Services provides diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental services.

Services provides by Yukon Dental Health Services are provided at no-cost to the parent or guardian. Costs of services are covered by Yukon Health and Social Services.


The Yukon Children's Dental Program presents three short videos designed to educate Yukon children and their parents about the benefits of regular dental check-ups and encourage parents to enroll their children in the Children's Dental Program.

1. How to Brush and Floss
“How to brush and floss” focuses on the importance of proper brushing and flossing, teaches parents how to best clean their children’s teeth, and provides tips on how to help children take care of their teeth.

2. Fluoride
“What happens during a fluoride treatment” focuses on the importance of regular check-ups with dental professionals and demonstrates what happens during a visit to the dental therapist for a fluoride treatment.

3. Overview
“Overview of the Yukon Children’s Dental Program” provides information about the program and its benefits, how to participate, and why good oral hygiene is important to children’s overall health.

Children's School-based Dental Program

The Yukon Children's Dental Program is a school-based public dental health program that provides diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental services to Yukon children. Dental therapists/hygienists provide dental services to both urban and rural communities.

Pre-School Dental Program

Yukon’s Pre-School Dental Program is for children, newborn to five years of age. It is recommended that your child visit a dental therapist or dentist before their first birthday.
